An ISBN is a unique number assigned to an item by its publisher. Each ISBN is a 10 or 13 digit number.
Thirteen-digit ISBNs must begin with either 978 or 979.
Enter ISBNs with our without hyphens.
OCLC assigns a unique number to each bibliographic record input into WorldCat. OCLC numbers vary in length from 1 to 9 digits. You can enter an OCLC number with or without leading zeros. For example:
The Universal Product Code (UPC) is a barcode symbol that is used to track trade items in stores (e.g., audio and video products).
The UPC appears as a barcode symbol with 12 digits printed below it. Hyphens or spaces usually separate the elements of the
number on the item. The code has three basic parts:
The first digit is the Number System Character (NSC) which appears on the left side of the symbol outside of the bars.
The next ten digits encoded in the symbol are below the bars.
The twelfth digit is a check digit and usually appears at the bottom right of the symbol.
Enter all digits found on the item (e.g., 008817006925).
An ISSN is a standardized international code which allows the identification of a serial publication.
An ISSN consists of eight digits in two groups of four, separated by a hyphen. You can enter an ISSN with or
without a hyphen or leading zeros as shown below:

Enter a FAST Subject Heading
is a controlled vocabulary based on the Library of Congress Subject
Headings (LCSH). FAST headings are categorized into seven subject
facets and one form/genre facet: Topic, Place, Time, Event, Person,
Corporate body, Title of work, and Form/Genre. FAST headings provide
additional subject information about a work and enable you to search
