One of the major features that came along with the new iOS 4.1 update for iphone is the HDR Photography feature. HDR (High Dynamic Range) feature helps you take great photos with a wider range of light intensity.  But this feature is not available for the iphone 3GS. Here’s how to get the HDR Feature in iphone 3GS.

Will Strafach has developed a new fix that will help you get HDR Feature in iPhone 3GS and iPhone 3G. If you need to apply the fix on your iphone, you’ll need to have a jailbroken iphone.

Enable HDR Photos in iPhone 3GS & iPhone 3G

#1) Search for " OpenSHSH " in Cydia and install OpenSHSH .

#2) Next you need to get to the following files.

(For iPhone 3GS  Users)

/System/Library/CoreServices/SpringBoard.app/N88AP.plist

(For iPhone 3G Users)

/System/Library/CoreServices/SpringBoard.app/N82AP.plist

#3) Now, Add a key with the name "hdr-image-capture” with a boolean value of "true” to the "capabilities” section of this property list. Save the plist.

#4) Replace the original file your iphone with the modified version of the file using SSH.

#5) All you need to do is just reboot the iphone.

Thats it! you are now ready to take HDR photos on your iphone 3G or 3GS.
